The company has accelerated its support for Web3 by announcing a number of partnerships with well-known blockchain systems Solana and Ethereum in previous weeks.

A node-hosting solution for Web3 developers dubbed the Blockchain Node Engine was introduced by Google Cloud around the end of October. The solution is made to assist in developing and deploying on platforms and applications that use blockchain technology.

The engine’s initial enabled blockchain is Ethereum. According to a post over the weekend, competing network Solana will shortly join. The native token of the network saw a 20% increase after the publication, albeit it has now given back the majority of those profits.

James Tromans and Amit Zavery, the Google Cloud executives stated that “Web3 companies who require dedicated nodes can relay transactions, deploy smart contracts, and read or write blockchain data with the reliability, performance, and security they expect from Google Cloud compute and network infrastructure.”

Nalin Mittal, Google’s Web3 head, said that the company has significantly increased its commitment in the Web3 domain into 2022 at this weekend’s Breakpoint 2022 conference which was held in Lisbon, Portugal, an occasion organized by the Solana Foundation. A specialized Web3 team has now been established at Google Cloud as a result of this.

Nalin Mittal noted that “This is like a natural evolution for us because we saw a lot of our financial services crypto-native gaming customers do more and more blockchain-related workloads on [Google Cloud] and it was clear that a dedicated product suite for Web3 would serve them better.”

Google has been active in supporting startups that use cryptocurrency. From September 2021 to June 2022, the parent company of Google, Alphabet contributed in four funding rounds for blockchain startups, among them the cryptocurrency behemoth Digital Currency Group and Dapper Labs, the Web3 startup that created NBA Top Shot, among many others.
