Web 3.0 Adoption in Japan to Be Facilitated Through Mobile Operators

NTT Docomo, the biggest mobile operator in Japan, plans to be the catalyst in Web 3.0 adoption in Japan.

NTT Docomo, which has more than $40 billion in revenues annually, has recently unveiled plans for Web 3.0 adoption in Japan. The company partnered with Astar Network, which is a multichain smart contract platform. Through this partnership, NTT Docomo aims to provide citizens of Japan the freedom to use digital assets for governing purposes.

In a recent press release, NTT Docomo aims to work on adoption by also focusing on environmental sustainability, people’s education of Web 3.0, and providing the means for businesses to utilize Web 3.0.

Representatives from Astar Network also acknowledge the importance of educating the public regarding the potential of Web 3.0.

Nonetheless, the state of Japan owns a partial share of NTT Docomo.

The latter has been constantly showing interest in digital assets, Web 3.0, and blockchain technology. This could also be shown by Japan’s Digital Agency. The latter launched a Research DAO specifically for Web 3.0. 

Despite the positive approach that Japan has to cryptocurrencies, there are still a lot of regulations and restrictions regarding this industry. Nonetheless, Fumio Kishida, Japan’s Prime Minister, previously showcased a positive stance on cryptocurrencies and Web 3.0.
