Google Cloud, the cloud services division of the tech giant, has unveiled a new initiative designed to empower Web3 startups. The company is planning to do this through collaborations with some of the most prominent players in the crypto industry. The Web3 Startups Program is part of the broader Google for Startups Cloud Program and aims to provide several things to users. Through the Web3 Startups Program, Google plans to provide technical tools, cloud services, and other resources to companies ranging from pre-seed to Series A.
Startups joining the program will enjoy a range of exclusive Web3 benefits. These include access to a private Discord channel with Google Cloud Web3 product and engineering teams. Other benefits include Web 3.0 training courses and grants from Google Cloud’s foundation partners. Currently, some of the most well-known partners of the foundation are Aptos, Celo, Flow, HBAR Foundation, Near, and Solana Foundation.
Google Cloud has been actively developing Web 3.0 products for several years, including the creation of the Blockchain Node Engine. The Blockchain Node Engine is a fully managed node-hosting service. Last year, the company established a dedicated team of Web3 product managers and software engineers to focus on bringing innovation to the Web3 community.
However, Google Cloud faces strong competition in the Web3 infrastructure space. Some of the biggest rivals are Amazon Web Services (AWS), Microsoft’s Azure, and Web3 native Chainstack. Despite the competitive landscape, Google Cloud aims to position itself as the go-to choice for startups and developers. Moreover, Google could take advantage of the current state of Web 3.0 as a young concept and get a hold of a considerable portion of the market share.
Google Joining The Web3 Fiesta
James Tromans, Head of Web3 Engineering at Google Cloud, explained the company’s vision.
Our goal is to enable Web3 builders with reliable, scalable, and sustainable infrastructure on which to build their applications. We want to make Google Cloud the first choice for every Web3 startup and developer to help launch and scale their business.
James Tromans, Head of Web3 Engineering at Google Cloud
Google Cloud’s initiative stands out due to its collaboration with Web3 native projects like Nansen Query and Alchemy. This enables the company to offer a highly customizable service designed to the specific needs of each startup.
Tromans emphasized the importance of partnership in the Web3 ecosystem: “The ethos of Web3 is centered around partnerships. Our program doesn’t just leverage what we can offer but also the unique incentives that other Web3 innovators can provide as well.”
Google Cloud recognizes that the requirements of Web3 startups differ from those of traditional companies. By collaborating with industry-leading partners, the company aims to address these unique needs and support the growth of the Web3 ecosystem. Moreover, Google is also focusing on blockchain development.
As the decentralized next generation of the internet, Web3 has the potential to revolutionize how people interact online. With Google Cloud’s new initiative, the company seeks to play a major role in shaping the future of the digital landscape.
