In Q4 2022, OpenAI released ChatGPT, which has since surprised the community with its abilities. It is essentially a chatbot that has been trained using supervised and reinforcement learning methods.
This chatbot has made people’s life simpler by doing anything from responding to their questions to helping them with daily duties. Just recently, the AI bot passed the US Medical Licensing Exam.
According to a recent MedPage Today article, the test findings provided “new and startling proof” of the AI tool’s potential.
Across all of the assessments, ChatGPT was able to perform at greater than 50% accuracy, according to Victor Tseng, MD, of Ansible Health in Mountain View. In fact, it reached close to 60% in the majority of their assessments.
Tseng and his team noted,
“ChatGPT performed at or near the passing threshold for all three exams without any specialized training or reinforcement.”
The researchers emphasized that its theories showed “a high level of coherence and understanding.” Additionally, they added:
“These results suggest that large language models may have the potential to assist with medical education, and potentially, clinical decision-making.”
AI technology has previously proven successful in passing tests. It just passed the Wharton MBA test as well.
While some community members worry that technology will replace experts, others see it as a tool that can be used to one’s benefit.
