Twitter Begins Ad Revenue Sharing for Twitter Creators

Elon Musk recently announced on his Twitter that the social media platform started ad revenue sharing for Twitter creators.

Twitter CEO and owner Elon Musk revealed that the platform is launching a new policy that shares ad revenue with creators. This exciting news applies only to ads displayed within a creator’s reply thread. This move comes after YouTube introduced ad revenue sharing for its creators through the YouTube Partner Program, with the aim of becoming the most rewarding platform for creators.

Similar monetization options are available on social media sites such as Instagram, TikTok, and Snapchat for creators who publish video and reel content. For instance, Instagram rewards eligible creators with up to $1,200 for Reel views.

To benefit from this new feature on Twitter, creators must have an active subscription to Twitter Blue. They must meet the eligibility criteria for the Blue Verified checkmark. The subscription fee is $8 per month or more and varies depending on location. Twitter Blue is available in the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, the United Kingdom, etc.

To be eligible for the Blue Verified checkmark, creators must have a display name, profile photo, and confirmed phone number. Their account must be older than 90 days and active within the last 30 days. Moreover, creators cannot use the platform to manipulate and/or scam others.

If you already possess the legacy Blue Verified checkmark, this does not qualify you for ad revenue sharing. The legacy Blue Verified checkmark will soon be removed as it is deemed “deeply corrupted” by Musk.

Other Updates on Twitter

In addition to the ad revenue sharing feature for Twitter Blue Verified creators, Twitter also announced that the Twitter API will no longer be free. This move is part of the platform’s effort to reduce the number of bots on the site.

According to DataReportal, ad reach has increased from 436 million users in January 2022 to 556 million in January 2023.

Twitter’s new ad revenue sharing policy provides a unique opportunity for verified Twitter Blue creators to monetize their content and receive a portion of the ad revenue generated from their reply threads. With the eligibility criteria and monthly subscription fee, Twitter aims to maintain a high level of quality and authenticity for creators and their content on the platform. By sharing ad revenue, Twitter is showing its commitment to supporting and rewarding its creators. This could make Twitter a top destination for content creation and engagement.

Given that Twitter has been crucial for the crypto community, this could incentivize more crypto enthusiasts to use the platform.
