SpaceX Starship Test Flight Coming on DOGE Day

SpaceX, the aerospace company founded by Elon Musk, has announced that it is targeting April 20 for the test flight of its Starship rocket. This date happens to be celebrated as “Doge Day” by the Dogecoin community, and many of them eagerly await the launch as they believe it could impact the cryptocurrency’s value.

Doge Day was declared by the Dogecoin community in 2021, aiming to push the coin’s value to new heights. The date is a nod to the number “420,” which is often associated with marijuana use and has become a cultural reference point for many. In April 2021, Dogecoin reached a new all-time high of around $0.30 before soaring to $0.70 in early May.

Elon Musk, who is a vocal Dogecoin enthusiast, has fueled speculation about the significance of the Starship launch taking place on Doge Day. He has tweeted that his team is “working around the clock on many issues” and that the launch may or may not take place on April 20.

Some members of the Dogecoin community believe that this delay is part of Musk’s “masterful plan” to launch a rocket on Doge Day. “The launch of the biggest rocket on the planet, delayed for the sake of memes,” tweeted Dogecoin graphic designer DogeDesigner. “All hail the meme-lord.”

Marshall Hayner, a member of the Dogecoin Foundation, also tweeted a simple “420,” which some have taken as a reference to Doge Day. This has further fueled speculation about the significance of the launch date.

In 2021, SpaceX helped plan a Dogecoin-funded rocket launch to the moon named “DOGE-1”. This mission aimed to send a small satellite CubeSat further away from Earth’s surface than any other CubeSat had ever reached. The fact that SpaceX has previously collaborated with the Dogecoin community has further strengthened the ties between the two and has led some to believe that the upcoming Starship launch is part of a larger plan involving Dogecoin.

It remains to be seen whether the Starship test flight will actually take place on Doge Day, but the speculation surrounding the launch date has added another layer of excitement to the already-anticipated event. The launch of the Starship rocket is an important step in SpaceX’s goal of making space travel more accessible and affordable, and its success could have far-reaching implications for the future of space exploration.
