Ice Cube is Down with DOGE as the “Incredible and Historical” Transaction of Bill Lee is Complete

Ice Cube declared his support for the DogeArmy when Bill Lee purchased NFTs related to the BIG3 basketball league of the rapper in the amount of  $625,000.

O’Shea Jackson Sr, aka Ice Cube has joined the Dogecoin (DOGE) bandwagon, endorsing a transaction that he deemed as “incredible and historical.”

Ice Cube’s foray into the space of Dogecoin (DOGE) is connected to the BIG3 basketball league after he co-founded the organization. Former NBA stars play in a three-on-three style rather than the traditional five-on-five basketball games in the organization.

The BIG3 announced a new ownership plan for the league in April, that includes selling tokenized stakes in each of the 12 teams, where a total of 1,000 NFTs is given to every team. The distributed tokens are 975 Gold NFTs ($5,000 a piece) and 25 Fire NFTs ($25,000 a piece).

Bill Lee, the co-founder of MyDoge wallet referenced a post from Ice Cube a little while ago, in which he announced that 2 teams were being acquired by Snoop Dog, saying: “if ya dig DOGE, me and the DogeArmy will take one as well,” to which Ice Cube responded with “come on wit it Bill, you know i’m down with the DogeArmy.”

Although it is uncertain how much Ice Cube is into the DogeArmy, the BIG3 quickly issued a press release on May 4 claiming that Lee had used DogeCoin (DOGE) to buy 25 Fire NFTs for the “Aliens” team.

Defined by Ice Cube as “incredible and historical” was valued at $625,000 or approximately 4.86 million DogeCoin (DOGE), with the BIG3 also calling it the “largest commercial transaction in history” of Dogecoin (DOGE).

The high benefits of ownership and usage are embodied in the Fire NFTs. These benefits include game management, voting rights and intellectual property/licensing rights for team logos, merchandise, and names. Furthermore, if the owner/holder sold their Fire NFTs, they would also receive a 40% part of the transaction.

In the statement, Lee made a minor jab at NFT projects that feature apes and owls, implying that he only considers NFT projects that have utility as opposed to NFT projects as a whole. Though some ape and owl projects have provided utility for owners, this is quite grandiose grandstanding for someone with focused work on wallets for a memecoin that was launched as a joke, to begin with.

“While others are buying NFT images of apes and owls, I believe that NFTs with utility are the next frontier. It is a dream to own a basketball team and the BIG3 is shifting the NFT game by offering ownership rights such as licensing/IP, team voting/management, and merchandising,” added Lee.
