Elon Musk Promises to Eat Happy Meal on TV Should McDonald’s Accept DOGE

Dogecoin (DOGE) surged right after the tweet, making a jump from $0.135 to $0.14.

Elon Musk took to Twitter to say that if McDonald’s accepts Dogecoin (DOGE) payments, he would eat a Happy Meal on TV.

In the week prior, Dogecoin (DOGE) co-founder Billy Markus replied to a fries-featured Mcdonald’s post by tweeting “I want a fry”.

McDonald’s replied with a picture of Shiba Inu, the face of Dogecoin (DOGE):

While Billy Markus sure got a reply, McDonald’s has yet to address the tweet of the tech billionaire.

Following the Billy Markus tweet, users said that they would frequent the global franchise more often if they accepted Dogecoin (DOGE) payments, to which McDonald’s responded on a positive note, saying: “We appreciate hearing your interest and continuously evaluate the payments experience.”

Elon Musk has long been a supporter of Dogecoin (DOGE), and his tweets about the cryptocurrency frequently impact the price movements. Dogecoin (DOGE) was trading at roughly $0.135 when he tweeted his McDonald’s tweet on Tuesday. The coin was trading at roughly $0.14 right after he tweeted, making an almost 4% spike.

Last month, Elon Musk announced that users will be able to purchase some Tesla merch items with the meme cryptocurrency. Cyberwhistle and Cyberquad for Kids are accepting Dogecoin (DOGE) payments for some of their merchandise as well.
