Crypto’s Shark Tank? CoinMarketCap Unveils ‘Killer Whales’ Show

Cryptocurrency and NFT projects are becoming more popular, and CoinMarketCap has recognized this trend by partnering with Hello Labs to launch a reality show called “Killer Whales.” The show’s goal is to provide a global platform for both big and small projects in the crypto and NFT space while entertaining and educating viewers on the evolving tech of the Web3 space.

The Format

The reality show’s format closely resembles that of “Shark Tank,” with contestants pitching their crypto and NFT projects to a panel of industry experts and judges called “Whales.” The judges will vote “Swim” or “Sink” on the pitches, and the goal is to amass as many votes as possible to be crowned the series winner.

The show’s announcement states that they want to provide a voice for the entire Web3 community by introducing a way for communities to vote for their favorite projects and NFTs, allowing viewers to show their support.

Interested candidates can submit their applications starting from May 2nd on Hello.one and CoinMarketCap’s website. The applications will be reviewed by professional representatives of industry experts, and the selected projects will go through several rounds of interviews in Los Angeles. The filming of “Killer Whales” is set to begin in June and will subsequently be released on major streaming services.

Web3 Shows on the Rise

Web3 technologies are making some of the most transformative developments in the world today, leading to the creation of more Web3-related shows. In mid-2021, the producers of “Entourage” came up with the first scripted TV show about digital assets called “Hold On for Dear Life.” Recently, Web3 story studio Toonstar announced the release of its new adult-animated series, “Space Junk,” marking its third original Web3 series release. Additionally, “Krapopolis,” the Web3 animated TV series from “Rick and Morty” co-creator Dan Harmon, is slated for a release this year.

The Future of Crypto on Television

“Killer Whales” is an excellent opportunity for crypto and NFT projects to showcase their innovative ideas to a larger audience. With the support of the Web3 community and industry experts, these projects can make a significant impact in the world of cryptocurrency. As more Web3 shows continue to emerge, it’s clear that the entertainment industry is beginning to recognize the potential of crypto and the opportunities it brings.

“Killer Whales” is a promising development that could help push the adoption of cryptocurrencies and NFTs into the mainstream. As the show begins its production and premiere draws near, it will be interesting to see what kinds of innovative projects are presented and how they will fare in the competition.
