AS Roma Accepting Crypto Payments

Leading blockchain for brands, DigitalBits (XDB), is now accepted as payment by AS Roma, a prestigious football team in Italy.

Five of the club’s key retail locations—Via del Corso, Piazza Colonna, Ottaviano, Porta di Rome, and Fan zone at Stadio Olimpico—will accept payments.

According to a press release, customers can use DigitalBits to purchase official AS Roma items.

Users may make payments using the AstraX mobile wallet by scanning a QR code. Purchases are then completed in seconds, and users receive cash back through XDB. The DigitalBits blockchain processes them, and Coinbar pay processing offers extra assistance.

“This is a big step for the DigitalBits community as we look to drive the adoption of crypto and Web3,” said Daniele Mensi, Managing Director at DigitalBits Foundation. “As one of the premier football clubs in the world with millions of fans worldwide, it is the perfect next step in this product-focused partnership to provide a consumer-friendly onboarding experience to the next generation of web3 users.”

As they work to promote cryptocurrency use beyond speculative activities, many companies and brands face the constant difficulty of making crypto payments mainstream. Because of its extreme price volatility, economists, especially central bankers, have frequently attacked Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies for being unable to serve as a medium of exchange.

By offering services that let customers change their cryptocurrency into cash at the time of sale, many companies have tried to address this issue. Nevertheless, most of these solutions call for centralized custody of user cryptocurrency, which largely defeats the point of blockchain’s peer-to-peer technology.

With their agreement, AS Roma becomes the first professional football league to adopt blockchain technology.

“This next step will expand on what it means for fans to connect to their teams and merge blockchain technology into the mainstream,” said the company.
