Anatoly Yakovenko, the co-founder of Solana, said that the developers are working on the reduction of blockchain outages of Solana.
In the Breakpoint 2022, a four-day conference held in Lisbon, Yakovenko stated that the Solana blockchain has been far from performing at the desired rate. Throughout 2022, the Solana network experienced several outages and reliability issues.
The biggest outage occurred back in January of this year, with the network having issues lasting up to 18 hours. The most recent outage was back in October and lasted six and a half hours.
Other issues include a clock drift, which saw the blockchain’s time being different from real-world time.
With Solana promoting fast transactions of 400 milliseconds, these outages led to a block time of more than a second, which is considered really slow for the likes of Solana, whose main feature is fast transactions.
Yakovenko acknowledged these issues and said that this is not the experience that his team wants to provide.
Therefore, he stated that Solana’s new updates may help resolve the reliability issues in the blockchain. Yakovenko also acknowledged the struggle of maintaining a balance between performance, security, throughput, and decentralization. He went on to say that the improvement of one of these could lead to the aggravation of the others.
Solana partnered with Jump Crypto, a Web 3.0 firm, in order to come up with solutions to reduce outages.
Other than that, Solana announced several partnerships and updates at Breakpoint 2022. Some of the announcements were the partnership with Google, the Solana smartphones, the Solana dApp store, GeoNFTs, and many more.
All of these updates promote Web 3.0 adoption.
Still, the Solana team knows that in order for these upcoming features to be successful, they first must work on eliminating outages in its blockchain.
